Dowdales School Cluster - School Sports Coordinator Programme - Updated 04/04/08
Dowdales Table Tennis Team Fourth in Country and First Ever Cluster Key Step 2 and 3 Competition held at Dowdales School.
The U16 boy’s table tennis team have continued to be successful this term winning both the zone and regional schools competition and qualifying for the National Finals. The boys were placed fourth in the finals but were certainly not outclassed in any of their matches losing 2 by the closest of margins – one rubber- and drawing one match 4-4. Thanks go to Denis Neal and to Duncan Crawford for supporting the team through coaching and congratulations go to Scott, Matthew, Daniel and Tom on being a credit to our school and becoming the fourth best team in the country!!
Top Link Conference.
Four Year 10 pupils attended this conference at Ambleside in February. Danielle, Jodie, Marc and Jack were selected to manage the Top Link Festival for Yr 6 pupils and they went to the conference where they learned all about managing and organizing such an event. They have now been set the challenge of planning their own event for 210 of our Yr 6 primary pupils! The event will take place in School Sport Week in July and we wish them good luck with their preparations.
Key Step 2 and 3 Gymnastic Competition.
Dowdales School hosted the first ever Key Step 2 and 3 Gym competition this term. Five Dowdales pupils worked hard on a gym judges course to prepare for their role as judges in the competition and 4 of our cluster primary schools took part. It was a very successful afternoon and Lindal won the Key Step 2 event and Dalton St Mary’s the Key Step 3 competition. Well done to all the pupils who took part and especially to the judges Leigh-Anne, Christine, Emily, Gemma and Lauren.
Yr 11 Leaders continue to work with Cluster Schools.
This term Yr 11 pupils have worked with Ireleth St Peter’s, Newton and Burlington and are at present preparing to go into Chapel St and George Romney. The pupils have been challenged to work and help with gymnastics lessons and multi-skills. All schools have been pleased and happy with the success of this project and the standard of pupils at the competition was a testimony to how well our senior students had performed. Well done to all involved you are much appreciated by our primary school teachers.
Key Step 1 Gym Competition
This event was hosted by Chapel Street School and involved 7 teams of Yr 1 and 2 pupils. Dowdales judges were in action again and the competition was excellent. All pupils had practiced hard and this showed through in the performances of the pupils. Well done to Dalton St Mary’s who won by a very close margin from Lindal in 2nd place and Chapel Street in 3rd place.
