YEAR 7 GET GROOVING WITH ENTERPRISE
36 pupils had the opportunity to experience dance at Demon Dance studios. The pupils went in three groups. They all had attended two one hour classes. At Demon Dance Studios they experienced first hand a professional environment with a dance instructor.
The pupils were really motivated by the excellent facilities. All the pupils want to return and learn more dances.

The pupils all managed to learn routines to two different songs in the two sessions. Some of the pupils are performing their learnt routine in assembly.
The opportunity has really enhanced the pupils dance in their curriculum and there is a definite improvement in the quality of dance in their lessons. There is a marked increase in their confidence to perform and show others. The knock on effect has positively influenced the pupils in the class who did not choose to attend.
20% of the pupils have now started to attend dance clubs in the community. Some are now either going to Demon Dance or Little Kays.
One of the pupils was invited to join the Demon Dance Academy for gifted dancers.

The experience at Demon Dance was nothing but superb and highly professional in all ways. The tuition received from Lisa and Tyne was great. On the last day one group had the added advantage to be helped by four pupils from Dowdales school on work experience who was great with our year 7 pupils.
The pupils would like to thank Demon dance and Jackie Watson from Enterprise at Walney. Without Jackie,s support and collaborative work with Walney’s SSCO this project would not have taken place.
Kick Boxing
A year 9 class have had the chance to experience kick boxing in the PE lesson as part of the health and fitness unit of work. The class are so keen that they are paying to be able to have another session.

The participation level of the class increased to 100% when they were told they would have kick boxing. Previously the girls had not wanted to perform aerobics with or in front of the boys in the class and the boys were not so keen on aerobics.
Walney Year 8 Girls Enjoying Tag Rugby
Martin Grealish has been working with year 8 pupils at Walney school and introducing them to tag rugby. The girls are really enjoying the experience and getting involved. They enjoyed their experience so much they persuaded their teacher to run a session without Martin when he was busy at a tournament elsewhere.
The girls have two more sessions left. They are hoping to follow this up with a the taster session being run by Mark Harper on the 12 April in the afternoon.
